With less than a week before the start of the school year for area students, the copper country angel mission is hard at work packing backpacks for their backpack program. Each year the local nonprofit store organizes a back pack program, accepting monetary and physical donations of school supplies for local students. The program is regularly used by over 100 students annually. Copper Country Angel Mission wants to thank the community for its support of their program. Thus far for this year, CCAM has enough backpack donations, but is still looking for donations of more expensive items like calculators, and spiral notebooks.

“We’re always welcome to monetary donations, because to get a good jump on this, we have to start before people begin thinking about school supplies. Or else we aren’t going to get them. The area stores run out, and even online they’ll run out of things like spiral notebooks. So we could still use monetary donations earmarked for the backpack program.” – Sherry Middlemis-Brown, Board member, CCAM Board of Directors

Copper Country Angel Mission will continue to accept students into the backpack program until the end of august, this Thursday.

“The best thing is to come down to our store during our open hours. Which is 11-2, Wednesday to Saturday. And they can fill out a form there. If it’s not possible for them to get down there at that time. They can call the store during those hours, and someone will take all of their information that is need for the registration form.” – Sherry Middlemis-Brown, Board member, CCAM Board of Directors

Copper Country Angel Mission will have participants in the backpack program pick up their backpack at their storefront in Calumet. If participants are unable to pick up their school supplies during business hours, please contact the Copper Country angel mission to make arrangements. Please register for the Copper Country Angel Mission backpack program in person if possible.
